This park is regarded as the best national park of Nepal, and is also the most developed one. Main activities in Chitwan include Jungle Safari, Bird Watching and Boat Tour. Largely made up of flood plain, sal forest, marshes, grassland and hills the park provides the perfect habitat for more than 300 of the endangered Indian one-horned rhinoceros and harbours one of the largest populations of the critically threatened Bengal tiger. Besides these there are four species of deer, leopard, sloth bear, wild boar, rhesus monkey, grey langur monkey, wild dog, small wild cats, the gaur. Gangetic dolphin, Asian elephant, golden monitor and gharial crocodile can all be found.

  Air
Bharatpur Airport, Bharatpur, Nepal is about 10 km away. There are daily flights from Kathmandu to a nearby city Bharatpur.
  Road
 Chitwan is connected by private and public tourist buses from different cities in Nepal. The nearest city is Bharatpur which is at a distance of 10 km from the park.
